“Blindness is not an exclusion for a diabetic eye exam because it is difficult to distinguish between individuals who are legally blind but require a retinal exam and those who are completely blind and therefore do not require an exam.”
If the member is over 65 years old, they may be eligible for exclusion from this as well as other measures based on Advanced Illness and Frailty. Your HEDIS/Star Specialist can help you determine if a member meets the criteria for Advanced Illness and Frailty.
