Some clinics are reviewing their workflow for collecting sexual orientation and gender identity information (SOGI) for adolescent patients. In eCW, these questions appear under patient demographics and also in the progress note/social history. Some clinics recently learned that patients may be asked during registration, which means parents may be answering for teens.
MPM would love to learn how other FQHCs are handling this: Are clinics collecting SOGI during registration, MA rooming, through a patient form, or during the provider’s confidential HEADSS assessment? Also, how are clinics protecting teen confidentiality and documenting this in the EHR?
